Assessments in Theory of Knowledge:
What happens locally:Your "local" grade matters at CPP--at the completion of both years (ToK 1 & ToK 2) students receive one credit.
The grade book is set up using a percentage based system; candidates are assessed on the following elements: Journals 50%: Journals will give you an opportunity to reflect on what we’ve discussed and what you’ve read. They also give you the invaluable chance to practice posing and answering knowledge questions. Class Participation 25%: Basically, this is a discussion-based course... if you're not discussing, if you're not engaged, if you're not involved, you're not getting the intended result from the course. Everything Else 25%: This includes in-class assignments and assignments not conducive to a journal entry. Participation25%:geng the intended result from the course. Everything Else 25%: pracce posing and answering knowledge quesons. |
Internal Moderation:You will be internally assessed on the formal ToK Presentation.
All presentations start with a real-to-life relevant issue and evolve into a ToK-esque discussion and presentation of information. All presenters are required to present for 10 minutes. This component is delivered and assessed in-house; it comprises 20 of the 60 possible points for the Theory of Knowledge course. |
External Moderation:You will be externally assessed on the formal ToK Essay.
All essays are to be written on the topics provided by IB. They should be 1200-1600 words and are electronically submitted in March. We will plan, write (plan and write again) and revise this essay in house; it is graded somewhere out in the wide-wide world. It comprises 40 of the 60 possible points for the Theory of Knowledge course. |
